teach me your ways

We cannot avoid suffering. Sooner or later it influences our lives. On February 8th … around 8:30 in the evening … it showed up at our house with a phone call. Linda (my wife) received a phone call from University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City saying that her 75 year old mother, Carol, had fallen on the steps outside her apartment and fractured her skull. A neighbor called an ambulance and she was air-lifted from a Waterloo hospital to Iowa City with several areas of bleeding in and around the brain. After 4 days her condition is the same. …

Around the Chicagoland it seems everyone hates the Packers or the Vikings or both. And you quickly earn the “big L” if you are a St. Louis Cardinal fan. By the way, all of us “big L” Cardinal fans cheered for our World Series Champion Red Birds last fall. Well, I have to admit there is one team especially that I’ve always wanted to lose every game they played. I coached against this team 2 or 3 times a year for exactly 30 years. Personally I’m sick of pro athletes who make this pointing jester toward the sky after they make a sensational play … and then a few days later you hear of their failed drug test or sex scandal involvement or drunk driving charge. I recently purchased a DVD that shows the history of the Bible and all that the Bible went through to remain the best selling book of all time. The Bible is unique as it has lasted almost longer than any other book yet its translations remain pure.
