Giving it the old Gospel Try.

Most of you remember the old sports movies from the 40′s and 50′s where the sports hero either wins one for a kid in the hospital or the team wins one for the hero who is in the hospital. They always talked about the old college try. I have been wondering lately about the old gospel try. What am I doing to spread the Gospel? I am not very evangelistic. I am upset about part of that and some times I see my place in the mix. I have found that many people find me positive and with a sunny …

The Prodigal Son

Well it’s been quite some time since I have posted, and I will admit the primary reason. Distance. As in the space between God and I right now. For some reason, I have chosen to take a journey that has led me away from God, not closer to him. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because lately I have wanted to live life my way, not His. Nevertheless, here I am….not sure what my next step is, but I’m hoping it’s in the opposite direction I have been going. I will keep you all posted.

God's Headed to Sin City

First of all, I want to say CONRATULATIONS to Mike Hurn and the Chicago Rush for making it to the Arena Bowl for the first time! Way to go Mike, and way to go Rush!!! Next, I would like to wish Mike and the team the best of luck in the game on June 11th, as well as for safe travel. Most importantly, I wanted to warn all of those who live or will be in Sin City this weekend, because the GOD TRAIN IS A COMING THROUGH! Watch out everyone, the most powerful and potent offense in the world …

Emotional Unload

I’ve been carrying around some emotional weight the past few days, and tomorrow I will be unloading when I have a chance. More to come…

Update on Baby Sponberg

Taken from Greg’s comment: Hey everyone, Thanks SO much for your prayers. Brian, it was very thoughtful of you to post the update. Thanks! Here’s the scoop. Nicol was induced at 12:00 midnight on Wednesday, May 16. Almost 32 hours later (at 10:21 a.m. on Thursday, May 18) Summer Renee Sponberg was born. I am so proud of Nicol…she worked so incredibly hard! Summer weighed 9 pounds, 7 ounces and was 22-1/2 inches long. I know that I’m a biased and proud dad, but she’s absolutely beautiful. It’s incredible how much love we already have for her…and she’s only 2 …

Complacency

Sometimes I feel like I am a complacent Christian. Phew, there, I said it. I admit it. I do not follow God the way that I should at times, and at others, I feel like all I am trying to do is make other’s think I’m a model Christian and a great person. Boy, do I have you all fooled… I believe that one of the ways that Satan keeps his grips on us is to make us feel ashamed of the way we behave, and tells us that we cannot be truthful with others. That if we reveal the …

Thinking of the Sponberg Family

For those of you who don’t know, Greg and Nicol Sponberg are probably welcoming a new life into the world today. Greg is planning on being a contributor on our website, after things with the new baby settle down. You might have heard of his wife Nicol, singer/songwriter (also known as Nicol Smith Sponberg of the Christian group Selah), who has such a beautiful and unique voice. Anyway, I just spent a few minutes just now praying for a safe and healthy delivery for Nicol and the baby, as well as for strength and courage for Greg. Being a dad, …

Shell Shocked

For all of you American Idol fans, did you the see the expression on everyone’s face when Chris was voted off the show last night? Chris was stunned, Paula and Simon were stunned, my jaw dropped, and I’m sure millions of viewers couldn’t believe that Chris got voted off. And so I went to bed sad, depressed, and a little (make that a lot) disappointed. I had so many dreams for Chris, and I’m sure he had the same… Then this morning I was putting away some dishes, and I thought of something. Think of how many people will have …

In the Blink of an Eye

I’ve lost count how many times people have told me to enjoy Zach’s early years, as they go by quickly. “Yeah, yeah” I tell them, and just shrug it off. However, I took this picture of him a few weeks ago, and looking at it, I am realizing how old he’s getting. He’s only 20 months old, but quite honestly, it is starting to hit me how quickly he’s growing up. He’s starting to say words now, which is always a tell-tale sign that he’s going from baby to toddler, and before I know it, he will soon become a …
