be still with the master

I live and work in the midst of a Chicago west suburb. Every town and city over-lap each other in an endless display of new housing projects and road construction. Life, especially for the kids here, is hectic and full of opportunities. Baseball, softball, basketball, football, soccer, gymnastics, dance, karate, swimming, volleyball, music, art, and education… this is only the beginning of the list. Countless ways kids and teens can grow their mind and their competitive skills … so they can live in this race called life.

If I could turn back time and teach my children one value. Just one.
It would be this. Find a place where no one is around. Where there is no noise. No phone. No ipod. No TV. No computer. No music. A place of absolute solitude. In this place intensely focus on JESUS. Make him the center of your every thought. Confess. Pray. Repent. Ask. Seek. … and simply allow HIM time to speak into your life.

By the way … adults … you and I … need this as well. Valued time with the master. Everyday !

Psalm 37:7 … “Be still before the LORD …
Psalm 46:10 … “Be still and know that I am GOD …

Great advice. My wife has been very intentional about giving our children the gift of silent alone time each morning and it’s been such a gift to them.
