peace prize priority

The Nobel Peace Prize appears to be centered around an outstanding person (or persons) making a significant contribution to world or international peace. A nobel gesture for sure, but one that Jesus himself probably would not receive if He were still in His earthly body today. Scripture makes it clear that the Prince of Peace (Jesus) did not come to earth as a man to accomplish world peace among the nations. Instead Jesus instructed us that we would always face wars and rumors of wars until He returns to establish His Kingdom. (Matthew 24:6-7) The peace Christ came to give …

Health Care Priority

This is not about our President or “town hall meetings”. This is about priorities. Our nation is caught up in a debate that centers around health care and insurance plans and thus the media has sucked us into a feeding frenzy. TV has become a nightmare of Jerry Springer shows … all over another political or social issue that has absolutely NO eternal value. Is this stuff important ? Yes. Is this stuff everlasting ? No. There is only one health care plan that deserves to be at the top of our priority list. And this plan was not designed …

Oh Reverend Where Art Thou ?

Mad dog reporters are frantically seeking interviews with all who knew the late Michael Jackson, with the hope of shedding light on the mysteries behind his passing. One famous reporter … known for his prime-time television interviews with celebrities and “fresh news personalities” … asked two “Reverends” several questions about the life and death of Jackson. These two “ministers” spoke of his accomplishments and talents as an entertainer and humanitarian … but mentioned nothing about Jackson’s spiritual connection with GOD. With a national audience listening these men of the church never spoke the name of our only eternal hope. They …

bail (me) out

I know almost nothing about the details of our American economy. Thus it would be stupid for me to try and say anything intelligent about this “bail out” thing. So I won’t. All I know is that when I made poor financial decisions in the past … it was me who paid the price. Me. However, there is a “bail out” plan I am familiar with. Years ago I discovered my life was a mess. A spiritual mess … and I was 100% responsible for all of it. To make matters worse … regardless of my efforts … I could …

… an impact that has an impact

A few days ago people across America heard the news of the sudden death of a much respected news media personality. He was honored on just about every channel through out the afternoon and evening. And rightfully so. He stood for integrity and dignity … and that seems rare … especially in the news and entertainment business today. His impact was felt around the nation. Dads, when your life ends how will your family, friends and co-workers remember you ? Here is the way I want people to think of me … I once saw a 5 year old girl …

Divorce Decline

U.S. divorce rate lowest since 1970 By DAVID CRARY, AP National Writer NEW YORK – By the numbers, divorce just isn’t what it used to be. Despite the common notion that America remains plagued by a divorce epidemic, the national per capita divorce rate has declined steadily since its peak in 1981 and is now at its lowest level since 1970. Yet Americans aren’t necessarily making better choices about their long-term relationships. Even those who study marriage and work to make it more successful can’t decide whether the trend is grounds for celebration or cynicism. Some experts say relationships are …

politics and religion do mix afterall

I am so grateful I live in a country where our government leaders are not ashamed of facing a crisis through Biblical support … and do so publicly. On my truck radio this morning I hear President Bush say … “Scripture tells us to turn from evil and do good ” (which is from Psalms 37:27). A few seconds later I hear the voice of Virginia Governor Tim Kaine who said … “Jesus understood despair when he cried out from a hill on Calvary ‘My God my God why have you forsaken me?‘ (from Matthew 27:46) No matter what … …

the Monsignor vs. God's Word

During my lifetime several high profile, God – loving men have either fallen into sin, or made statements that simply do not line up with God’s inspired words. The list includes prominent leaders in both the protestant and catholic faiths. Please understand that I am not picking on one particular faith … but both heresy and hypocrisy are undermining God’s absolute truth. And the devil is pleased. From the Chicago Tribune (March 29, 2007) in an article from “The God Squad”, here is a response by Monsignor Thomas Hartman when asked if Jesus is the only way to heaven. “The …

faith is more than a word spoken

A gunman kills more than 30 students in a shooting rampage on a college campus in Virginia. Young intelligent students trying to prepare for their future were denied life beyond April 16, 2007. Why ? … What possible good could come from this ? God help me to understand your reasoning behind this tragedy. In my small and limited mind it makes absolutly no sense. None. There was a week in Jerusalem when an innocent man with excellent character and sweetness experienced acts of injustice. He endured ruthless torture and a humilating slow death for crimes He did not commit. …

one and out

A sports headline in a Texas newspaper yesterday read: “One and Out for Knight”. Basketball’s March Madness is designed to give you one chance to win a national championship. If you lose … your done. In the real world called “life” … God created you to live once on this earth. The Heavenly Father gave you the free will to choose forgiveness and salvation through Jesus. If you’ve decided to live your life excluding God and His Son … you lose … you’re done. And what’s left for you is an eternal separation from God and His paradise in a …
