On October 21st … just 4 weeks ago … I was back stage at our church waiting to give an announcement to our congregation. It was Baptism Sunday and I listened as Paige, 11 years old, and Taylor, 10 years old, both gave their personal testimonies about how they made a commitment to believe and trust in Jesus as their Savior. Both girls were smiling and excited to proclaim their faith through their obedience to scriptural believer’s baptism.
This past week we conducted funerals for Paige and Taylor … both girls lost long and difficult battles with cancer. Parents, family, and friends were in pain … pain that is impossible to describe.
As a Pastor, I really only have this to offer as an explanation:
“For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven … and the dead in Christ will rise first … “ 1 Thessalonians 4:16
“… But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him … ” 1 John 3:2
Scripture teaches that the spirits of Paige and Taylor are in heaven … and as soon as Jesus comes back to claim His own … they will have a new body … a perfect body. Since no one knows when this will happen, perhaps Paige and Taylor will spend their teenage years and beyond growing up in heaven. Now I ask you, how cool is that ?
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28
