I wanna be like dad
At the Las Vegas FCA Breakfast last Sunday before the Arena Bowl Championship game Kurt Warner told this story about one of his sons, Kade, who was 5 years old at the time. It seems Kade was telling his mother (Kurt’s wife Brenda) how much he really wanted to be just like his dad when he grew up. Brenda began to tell Kade how great it was for him to want to be a football player just like his dad … but God may have other plans about what kind of job he has. Kade responded with … “Oh I don’t want to be a football player, I wanna love Jesus as much as dad does.”
Kids, especially sons, mimick their dad. What a responsibility. Teach your child to run, hit, catch, throw, shoot, pass, skate, slide, jump, peddle, and swim … but above all stay in God’s Word and reflect Jesus. Only Christ can determine your child’s eternal destination.
“How can a young man keep his ways pure? By living according to your word.” Psalm 119: 9
