I was addicted
For many years I suffered from an addiction. It wasn’t even a secret …everyone knew about it.
I was addicted to myself.
I did everything I could to satisfy whatever drove me. Baseball. Basketball. Hunting. Coaching. Alcohol. Tobacco. Drugs. Other women. … the most important thing in my life was me.
Then after years of growing sick and tired of myself … GOD began to move in my heart. Subtly HE directed me to church, then into HIS word, and then to HIS Son. HE changed me.
Psalm 34 may be a brief expalnation of my life and how GOD’s powerful spirit worked within me.
In verse 1 … I extoled the LORD.
In verse 3 … I glorified GOD.
In verse 5 … I looked to Him.
In verse 6 … I called to the LORD.
In verse 8 … I took refuge in Him.
In verse 9 … I feared Him.
In verse 10 … I sought the LORD.
In verse 11 … I listened to GOD.
AND finally in verse 14 … the day came when I turned from my old life and pursued HIS will.
“The Lord redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in Him.”
Psalm 34: 22
I have you had enough of yourself yet ?
