In The Wrong Order

Frank Tanana is a former major league baseball pitcher who nows live in Michigan. Those of you who are baseball fans remember this left hander as a dominating All-Star a few years back.

I recently spoke with Frank about speaking (and playing) at our annual church golf outing this July. Here is what he said: “Mike I would love to come … my two favorite things to do include playing golf and talking about Jesus.”

Then Frank paused and said …
“I just realized I have those in the wrong order and I need to fix that.”

Where is Jesus in your life’s order of importance ?

The apostle Paul wrote several letters … but they all seemed to have a primary message which he boldly proclaimed in 1 Corinthians 15: 3 …

“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance; that Christ died for our sins …”

I remember Tanana well when he played. Good pitcher.

I love hearing stories about sports players (past or present) talking about God. I think that the Reggie White story might be my favorite. Being nicknamed the Minister definitely shows where his values were!
