less of me

This past week a marriage challenge came up in my life … and I decided to handle it myself. I understood all the circumstances and all the details … there was no need for God to get involved. It was simply a matter of me getting what I deserved.

My slanted view of this challenge was based on pride and self-centeredness. As a result the Lord got my attention. He did this by sending me to my cousin’s funeral in Streator Illinois. The pain and suffering I experienced within my family gripped my heart.

What’s important in this tiny little world we live in is not how we attain what we believe is rightfully ours. But rather how we put the needs of others BEFORE ours. Pleasing the Lord, pleasing others should be our consistent Christ following values. Easy to say … tough to do … especially without the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

“Find out what pleases the Lord.” Ephesians 5: 10
