Love vs. Grace
People tell me that at times “in-laws” can be a pain. Well for me that is not the case. While she attended the Willow Creek Small Group Conference here in the Chicagoland area, my sister-in-law, Janet, stayed with us. We had a few theology discussions and for the most part she “saw things my way”.
However, after one of our “debates” I realized that I can sometimes be rather one sided with my view of a solid relationship with GOD. I tend to be stuck on the concept of “confession and repentance” … while Janet is big on the “love and grace” card.
What a unigue blend of the majesty of God’s redeeming plan.
Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5: 14 that it is “Christ’s love that compels us” … not His wrath. Yet we also know from scripture that without a response of confession and repentance then there is no forgiveness. The Lord’s love remains … but so does His wrath if we do not respond with a broken heart to our sinfullness.
What a GOD we serve … love and grace and forgiveness unmatched … and wrath to complete His just and righteous expectations.
