my own Ethiopian encounter
In Acts chapter 8 Philip met an Ethiopian man who had a thirst for understanding scripture and was quick to respond and except the gospel of Jesus Christ. Well … not to be outdone … on my way to the Denver International Airport yesterday I also met an Ethiopian … and he was also quick to inform me of his love for Jesus.
I saw an Ethiopian Bible in the shuttle van we were riding in and asked the driver if this book gave him any instructions about life after death. Without hesitation he said one word: “Heaven“. I then asked him how he could be so sure he was going to heaven. Again without hesitation he said one word: “Jesus“. What followed was an enriching conversation about his decision to follow Christ and serve in his local church.
My brief Ethiopian friend reminded me of Paul’s challenge to all of us who claim to know and trust Christ.
Paul in Romans 1: 14-15-16 … encourages us to take “the three I am test”.
I am obligated to share the gospel of Jesus.
I am eager to tell others about Christ. … and
I am not ashamed of this message.
My Ethiopian shuttle van driver past this test … do I ? Do you ?
