Tonight I have a Sports Leadership Training session at our church. Invited are 50 adult men and women who lead the 24 sports ministries within our three campus locations. As the Sports Pastor I am directing this training … which serves more than 1,500 adults in our church sports programs.

Although I am blessed to have several leaders who understand and embrace our mission and goals … there are some that do not. Thus, here is the problem. There are some who claim the title of a Christian and sports ministry leader … yet never tell their participants about Jesus, never invite them to church, and never ask them to join their small group.
Instead they are concerned with finding good players, winning the championship, and re-living their old glory days as an athlete.

Pray for me as I address this issue … and then pray for me again because I have lived next door to two families for more than a year now … and I have never told them about JESUS, never invited them to church, and never invited them to join my small group. Now here is the problem … and it’s me.

Oh sure I preach JESUS at church, to the RUSH, at banquets, on the softball field, at the ice hockey rink, on the basketball court, on the golf course, on the football field, and in the parking lot to our Runner’s Club … but not once to my neighbor. Not once. What’s the deal with me ?
