now is the year, today is the day

Many people have started all kinds of New Year promises to themselves. Changing exercise, diet, and spending habits seem to top most lists.

I remember the start of the 1995 New Year. I had the usual goals. I wanted to stay healthy … make more money … take a better vacation, win more basketball games … perhaps land a college coaching job, and to buy more fun stuff for me and my hobbies.

Then in May of 1995 GOD convicted and softened my heart and then re-arranged my search for significance. Since then life has not been the same. My quest for happiness and satisfaction gave way to experiencing JOY beyond measure.

Ignoring your spiritual future year after year is like playing “Russian roulette”. A day will come when no more days will come.
Are you relying on a holy and righteous GOD to let you and your sin into His Kingdom ? Get real ! The Bible says that will not happen. You and I need a Savior … and His name is Jesus.

Make 2008 the year for your spiritual birthday. And if you have entrusted your faith in Jesus … make this the year you ask GOD to renew your spirit and live for Him. Don’t wait until the middle or the end of the year.

“… I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2

Mike is the Sports and Men's Ministries Pastor at Christ Community Church in St. Charles, IL. He worked with the Chicago FCA in a special inner city program called "SLAM" ... Saving Lives through Athletic Ministry. Mike graduated from Moody Bible Institute's Graduate School May of 2009 with MA in Biblical Studies. Mike has also had the privilege of being a guest Chaplain for the Chicago Bears.
