Happy Fathers Day
Hope your day is filled with blessings. ChristianDads.com
I wanna be like dad
At the Las Vegas FCA Breakfast last Sunday before the Arena Bowl Championship game Kurt Warner told this story about one of his sons, Kade, who was 5 years old at the time. It seems Kade was telling his mother (Kurt’s wife Brenda) how much he really wanted to be just like his dad when he grew up. Brenda began to tell Kade how great it was for him to want to be a football player just like his dad … but God may have other plans about what kind of job he has. Kade responded with … “Oh I …
Don't Get Tripped Up
Ever wonder why good things happen to bad people? I have. Ever question God as to why evil people get away with their stuff? I have. Ever been angry or bitter because of it? I have. Ever ask yourself, “What’s the point of being faithful and doing the right thing?” I have. Ever wear yourself out trying to understand these things? I have. So I went to God’s Word… “Truly, you put them on a slippery path and send them sliding over the cliff to destruction. In an instant they are destroyed, swept away by terrors. Their present life is …
Birley's bunch
Birley is a 59 year old man who works at a homeless shelter in the Chicagoland. He also conducts Bible studies twice a day 5 days a week. Once a month myself and 6 other men serve at the shelter. Begininng at 6:30 AM we serve breakfast and just hang around and talk to those that come in off the streets. I have met men and women who truly know what it means to suffer. No matter how bad your life is … image having no place to sleep. You look for an unlocked car or a big cardboard box …
expect delays
While driving here in the Chicaoland area you will often see this sign: “Construction Ahead … Expect Delays” I read about a man who was arrested for disturbing the peace. This man committed no acts of violence … he merely publicly spoke from his heart about what it truly means to know and have an eternal relationship with God. Without just cause the Governor put this man in prison for TWO years. Each time he was brought before the Governor the jailed man would present his Christian testimony. During these unjustified delays the accused did nothing … he never lost …
God's Headed to Sin City
First of all, I want to say CONRATULATIONS to Mike Hurn and the Chicago Rush for making it to the Arena Bowl for the first time! Way to go Mike, and way to go Rush!!! Next, I would like to wish Mike and the team the best of luck in the game on June 11th, as well as for safe travel. Most importantly, I wanted to warn all of those who live or will be in Sin City this weekend, because the GOD TRAIN IS A COMING THROUGH! Watch out everyone, the most powerful and potent offense in the world …
Movie Review- The Greatest Game Ever Played
A few days ago, while I was on a walk with our kids, my wife Stephanie rented “The Greatest Game Ever Played” (PG, Disney, 2005) from our local McDonald’s Redbox. We rarely have the opportunity to relax with one another and watch a movie but fortunately this night we did. What a tremendous movie! Set in early 1900′s, the film details the determination, passion and success of a working class young man from Boston named Francis Ouimet. The climax of the movie (which is inspired by a true story and based on a book by Mark Frost) is when Francis …
We Gotta Pray!!!
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way…I desire then that in every place the MEN should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling…” (1 Timothy 2:1-2,8) A major issue has been brewing in our country for some time now concerning the preservation of the Bible’s definition of marriage. You probably know the story: one side views marriage from a “traditional” perspective, i.e., between one man and …
what happens in Vegas …
The latest TV commercial says: “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” … but I disagree. For the first time in their history the Chicago RUSH arena football team plays in the Arena Bowl Sunday, June 11 in Las Vegas … and they have asked Linda and I to join them. With God’s direction, I will deliver a team chapel message on Saturday and then my wife and I will be included as guests at the team evening supper. God can orchestrate some of the most bazaar events in a person’s life. I am humbled that HE can take a …
use as directed
It’s great to teach yourself and your children Bible verses … but the intent of scripture is to point us toward Jesus and to live like Him. Our faith comes alive when we apply God’s Word to our daily lives. The Bible is like medicine; it goes to work only when we apply it to the infected areas. When you have your quiet time or when you are reading scripture with your children … be sure to “use as directed” and apply the medicine. “I am your servant; deal with me in unfailing love, teach me your principles. Give discernment …
