Reaching for God or Man?

Are we reaching for Man or God. Last night me and the wife went to an revival service. Usually revival services are great a hyped up preacher gets you hyped about God and change etc…… but last night was different… It wasn’t about us, it wasn’t about the preacher it wasn’t about the Church… It was about connecting with God… and it got me to thinking many Mega Churches are out there… even small churches with the right sounds, right presentation… but what is the motive? Are they truely aiming to please God and draw people in or are they trying to entertain and hope that God touches them… but only in that hour and half window on sunday morning… Heaven forbid God moves and we are late for lunch…. I feel many people are forsaking a true God for the new one we have portrayed in our own society… one that doesn’t inconvience us one that molds into our life… Where did we wander off what happened to the refiners fire is it gone (NO God is same today and forever)… What happened to true revivals… now they just pump the churchgoers up and give a good feeling… have we become timid have we become accepting of this new style… But last night was different while there were many people around me but I had conversation with God He opened my eyes to the hurting (not the latest powerpoint), he opened my eyes to the sick (not the newest worship song), he opened my eyes to people having a relationship with him (not another seat filled), he opened my eyes to true revival (no just a feel good message)… the revival that comes with people seeking God down on there face crying for God, going through the refiners fire, and being touched by God and feeling his embrace… and not walking in the church doors and leaving the same.  I can truely say I left different than when i came in!

Man, Dave, that is so refreshing to hear! Moments like that are to cherish – I’ve had about 5 really profound spiritual experiences in my life. Ones that I would consider 100% true God moments. Thanks for such a great post, and to hopefully inspire others to look inward and really to try challenge themselves!
