slow leak

My vehicle is equipped with a computer sensor which lights up a small gage on my instrument panel when one of my 4 tires are low on air. That particular light came on a couple of days ago … so I got out and looked carefully at all four tires. They looked fine to me. I certainly could not see a low tire or any cause for alarm. The next day I inspected them again and again found normal looking tires.

When I took my SUV in for an oil, filter, and lube service I asked the mechanic to check the pressure in my tires. You guessed it. He found two of them to be low on air. While my observations were filling me with wrong information … that small little yellow warning light was telling me something was not right.

Many times I get side-tracked in the ways of this world. I develop a “slow leak” and gradually allow myself to be influenced by subtle sin. It’s during these times that God often reminds me with a warning light that I need to be re-filled with His Holy Spirit.

So if you find yourself with a “slow leak” … get back to God and His word … and follow the advice in Ephesians 5: 18 …
… Instead be filled with the Spirit“.
