take out the guilt-garbage
I spoke with a man on Saturday for 2 hours. Last year his best friend and long time deer hunting partner committed suicide and he’s been carrying around both grief and guilt for 13 months.
It seems the devil has convinced him that he could have done several things to prevent this tragedy. So he feels responsible. He can’t sleep. He can’t concentrate. And he’s depressed.
Satan is a master of this kind of garbage. But this is not the way GOD wants us to live. When our Creator sent His Son … He did so to redeem us from BOTH sin AND guilt.
GOD determines the length of a life. Not us. It is for HIS good purpose that we exist. Too many times I hear people say this word when faced with the death of a loved one. They ask … “Why ?”
But a better question is … “What now ?”
If you are facing a tragedy I pray that the LORD will show you the answer to the “What now ?” question. From where I stand it looks like it boils down to two spiritual lessons:
#1. Lord what are trying to teach through this challenge ?
and
#2. How can I glorify Jesus in the midst of this struggle ?
“ … let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith … to cleanse us from a guilty conscience … ” Hebrews 10:22
