the '09 hammer and chisel
Many years ago when I played high school and college basketball and baseball I worked toward a change with each season of competition. Basically the change I sought was to get quicker, faster and stronger … so that … with much practice … my skills would increase. This meant I had to find the discipline it takes to see these changes through. Easy to say and write about … but not so easy to implement.
As a believer in Jesus my desire should be to seek changes in my life that will shape me into a closer image of Christ. Easy to say and write about … but not so easy to implement. Why ? Because, you see, I am drawn toward the things of this world. Things that want to conform me to the image of selfishness and materialism.
So what I need in 2009 is for GOD to work on me with HIS hammer and chisel. I want the LORD to soften my heart so as to allow the sin-garbage in my life to be chipped away. Easy to say and write about about … but not so easy to implement. As a matter of fact it is impossible. Impossible unless I call on the power of the Holy Spirit that lives within me.
Ask GOD to transform your life by bringing down HIS 2009 hammer and chisel. Get ready … it will probably hurt. But as your old coach would say … “the gain is worth the pain”.
“And we … are being transformed into His likeness … which comes from the Lord, who is Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18
