the perfect painter

This week I spoke with a man whose life is gripped with addictions. His past and present are both so full of sin that he walked into my office with head down and back bent with guilt. Not a pleasant picture.

In addition the problem worsens because … as a high school science teacher and basketball coach for 31 years … I wanted to fix this guy. But like dozens of previous situations like this … I quickly discover I can not.

Only Jesus and the power of His Holy Spirit is the supreme healer. I am nothing … just a man who has been through some of these trials … and by God’s grace was lifted out.

I’ve also learned that Jesus doesn’t do things “half way”.
He doesn’t “waste paint” when orchestrating the
circumstances in our lives. Things happen for a purpose … and as Jesus paints my life not a drop is misplaced. He is in complete control. The Savior is in the business of calming the storm completely. He is just waiting for us to call on Him with genuine confession and faith.

Once in a boat with his disciples, Jesus was asleep during a raging storm that threatened to drown them all. His followers woke Jesus up and here is what he did …
“He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet ! Be still !” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” Mark 4: 39
Notice it says “completely” … and that is exactly how He will come to your rescue every time … “completely”.
