the voice within vs. the voice of truth
Last week my day started with an early morning visit to the hospital emergency room. A friend of mine, Mike, has a 14 year old daughter, Shaina, and I was meeting him and his wife there after they had been given the news that the paramedics could not revive her. Shaina took her own life.
Standing next to a dead teenage girl and watching my friends come apart was beyond awful.
Satan is a powerful force … and when a person’s world is caving in … the devil becomes a small but convincing voice that speaks of a short cut that will end suffering. However, the absolute truth is this … the voice is not from God … the voice is a liar and comes to deceive and destroy.
The suicide rate among teens is increasing at an alarming rate. Warn your sons and daughters of this “voice” and its source. Let them know how much you and God loves them every day. Most importantly pray. Ask God to protect your children. If you are not praying for your kids … who is ?
“… Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of suffering.” 1 Peter 5: 8-9
Finally, scripture teaches us that someday satan will be destroyed. He will be cast into a lake of fire. I want a front row seat for that event. Until then, teach your children to listen to the voice of truth … and its source is Jesus.
