thumbs down warning
There are several black-top roads to take on the way to my church office. I enjoy a different route from time to time to see the country side of Illinois, away from people.
This morning I am cruising along at 60mph in a 50mph speed zone. The driver of an on-coming car holds his arm out the window and starts giving me this wild thumbs down gesture repeatedly. My initial reaction ? This guy has already had too much coffee.
I slowed down to look at him in my rear view mirror and then as I turned my head back to the road and over the hill … there HE was … a State Trooper … hiding in the grass … on a side gravel road … radar aimed right at me !
Immediately I looked at my speedometer. “50″ … it read.
Saved … no problem … no ticket.
That crazy man had just rescued me from a $75 fine.
The Bible is full of thumbs down warnings. The question is are we paying attention ?
The apostle Paul gives us such warning. He made it plain that God expects us to pursue a life of holiness through Jesus our Savior and the power of the Holy Spirit.
“God has called us to be holy, not to live impure lives. Anyone who refuses … is not disobeying human rules, but is rejecting God …” 1 Thessalonians 4:7-8
