wake up people
The Offensive Coordinator calls the play down to Dallas Cowboy Coach Wade Philips, but the OC yawns at the end of the play description. Phillips relays the play and the yawn to quarterback Tony Romo. Romo returns to the huddle and informs his team of the play called and includes the yawn. Result ? The play is a failure and Romo gets sacked hard in the backfield.
Immediately Cowboy team owner Jerry Jones shows up in the booth and throws a bottle of high energy Pepsi to the Offensive Coordinator and grabs the field headset from him. A loud voice is then heard proclaiming these words: “Wake Up People !”
Although what I just described is a TV commercial … as the year ends I am reminded of God’s prophets making the same proclamation (minus the Pepsi of course) to us.
Isaiah, Jeremiah, Malachi, and John the Baptist all came with a message that pointed to one theme … “Wake up people, repent and turn from your sin.”
I know Jesus came to earth because of His great love for us.
But the Christmas story is much more than that for me. He came to save me from my sin … my past, present and future sin. And I have discovered that I need a Savior … an EVERYDAY Savior.
May this New Year find you and I on our knees responding to God’s call to … “Wake Up People”.
