you want me to do what ?

Jesus was sitting in a fishing boat teaching a large crowd who had gathered along the shore. Afterwards He instructed Simon Peter to row out into deeper water and cast his nets into the lake. Now Peter and the boys had been fishing all night and had caught absolutely nothing … and they had apparently sat through an early morning sermon as well. Hungry and tired, I’m certain they must have been ready for some sleep.

Peter, is an expert fisherman … after all this is what he does for a living. In the back of his mind he probably thought … “Why is this carpenter telling me how to fish ? My fishing pals are going think I am an idiot to cast the nets again.” But instead of ignoring the request of his Master, he simply makes this incredible statement. Peter says in Luke 5 verse 5 … “because you say so, I will …”

Many times I have felt the Master pull on my heart and sensed His direction when confronted with decisions … only to go my own way. Likewise your children will be challenged in their daily world to choose a path.
Teach your kids to say to Jesus … “because you say so, I will.

By the way, read Luke 5:6-10 to see just how Peter’s fishing “luck” changed with his obedience to the Master.
